Tracking with Sam Russell
I’ve always enjoyed working with Sam Russell. He’s high energy, happily oblivious to the immediate world around him, and has a clear artistic vision. He came in today to lay down some basic tracks for a tune on his upcoming album.
It was an interesting session overall. I’m usually behind an instrument while Sam produces and Conrad Uno works the recording equipment. I must admit it was nice to sit back and enjoy Sam playing most of the music. Especially since he usually lays his tracks at Egg before or after I arrive. Highlight of the day was pulling out the old Korg D3200 for use as a drum machine. Once the main recording unit in my setup, it has since been relegated to odd jobs.
